Joe Yuska, Strongsville High School Science Teacher Receives Prestigious Crystal Apple Award

This annual award recognizes extraordinary teachers in Northeast Ohio.

Strongsville science teacher, Joe Yuska was nominated for the Advance Ohio Crystal Apple award by senior, Chris Vento. The Crystal Apple award is given to extraordinary teachers in Northeast Ohio. Mr. Yuska was chosen out of twelve other teachers for the award, reports Cleveland.com.

Vento praised Yuska in the nomination, saying:

"Mr. Yuska is deserving of the Crystal Apple because of his flexibility in teaching, creativity in his work and willingness to help others. It is because of Mr. Yuska many students are pursuing careers in science and making the choices that they are today."

Mr. Yuska graciously accepted the award and gave the following statement:

"With so many great teachers in Strongsville, it is an honor to be recognized. The greatest honor for anyone is to be appreciated for your passion by the people you directly affect, the students. Strongsville is full of so many great students and Chris Vento is certainly one of them. He is amazing kid with a real interest in science. It is an exciting time to be teaching in Strongsville. The community is showing a real commitment in education and the students are eager to excel. That combination makes teaching fun and rewarding."
