Here are the top three stories today in Strongsville:
- Cuyahoga County's mayors are uniting against a proposal to create a unified income tax. The proposal has been presented by the Republican candidate for county executive Lee Weingart. The Cuyahoga County Mayors and City Managers Association penned a letter to denounce the proposal. (Subscription: Cleveland.com)
- The Garfield Heights Teachers' Union has voted to authorize a ten-day strike. According to the teachers, the Garfield Heights School District pays its educators the lowest amount in Cuyahoga County. The strike authorization was a unanimous vote by the union. (Cleveland 19)
- The Cleveland Foodbank and Cuyahoga County will be assisting Strongsville residents with applying for benefits on Oct. 14. The service will be offered from 9:15 a.m. to noon at the Erhnfelt Senior Center. The service will help residents apply for SNAP, HEAP, Medicaid, Ohio Works First, and more. Please bring proof of income to the Benefits Check-Up event. (City of Strongsville)
