Here are the top three stories in Strongsville today:

  1. The Ohio State Highway Patrol is investigating a fatal crash involving a BMW reported stolen from a Strongsville dealership. On the evening of Aug. 26, the driver of the BMW reportedly fled a traffic stop, then struck a Scion after failing to stop at a posted stop sign. The Scion's driver has been identified as 28-year-old Annelisa Endress, who was transported to an area hospital and later succumbed to injuries sustained during the crash. (News 5 Cleveland)
  2. Court Appointed Special Advocates (CASA) of Cuyahoga County have demanded county leaders address the issues occurring at the Jane Edna Hunter office building. County leaders have claimed that nothing can be done about the growing placement and safety crisis occurring at the center. The organization wants a limited-scope task force to examine the issues and for additional security or intervention staff to be hired. (Cleveland.com)
  3. A new state bill could potentially catch drivers illegally passing school buses. Senate Bill 23 would increase the state's maximum fine to $1,000 for drivers caught passing the buses. New felony offenses would also be established for harming an individual while passing a school bus. Cuyahoga County had only 8 of 1,268 statewide citations since 2020.
