- Cuyahoga County is raising social worker wages to address issues at the Division of Children and Family Services office. Entry-level social workers will now be paid $26 per hour - a significant improvement over the current $20.73 per hour rate. The Cuyahoga County Council approved the pay increase through a unanimous vote on Wednesday. (Subscription: Cleveland.com)
- The Justice Center Executive Steering Committee will be voting on Tuesday to decide whether Cuyahoga County's preferred site for a new jail is acceptable. The site is at 2700 Transport Road. The county would buy the site for $20 million if the Steering Committee approves the proposal. The meeting will be held in the Cuyahoga County chambers at 9:00 a.m. (Subscription: Cleveland.com)
- According to the Cleveland Department of Public Health, monkeypox cases continue to climb in Cuyahoga County. There are currently 136 cases in the county, and 85 of the cases are in Cleveland. This is more than half of Ohio's 263 confirmed cases. The monkeypox vaccine is still being restricted to individuals with the highest risk of exposure due to the short vaccine supply. (WKYC)
