Here are the top three stories today in Strongsville:
- Ohio Gov. DeWine has announced the third round of wellness funding for the state's first responders. The Strongsville Police Department will be getting $15,983.95 for a first responder resiliency and peer support training course. The course will be 40 hours and for five officers. So far, the state has allocated $11 million as part of the Ohio First Responder Recruitment, Retention, and Resilience Program. (The Highland County Press)
- The Strongsville Library Book Sale is scheduled for Saturday, Oct. 22 through Monday, Oct. 24. On Saturday, the sale will be hosting a Friends Preview between 9:00-10:00 a.m. On Sunday, from 1:00-4:00 p.m., participants will be able to fill up their own bag for one dollar. On Monday, the bag cost drops to 50 cents between 9:00 a.m. and 8:00 p.m. (Subscription: Cleveland.com)
- The Ohio legislature is reviewing a proposal which would allow counties with more than one million residents to apply a tax freeze. The only county in Ohio which would qualify for House Bill 726 would be Cuyahoga County. If the proposal is passed, the county would be able to freeze property taxes for senior homeowners on a limited income. (Subscription: Cleveland.com)
