Here are the top three stories in Strongsville today:

  1. There are a total of six tax increase issues on the November ballot in Cuyahoga County. One of the most notable tax increases is for Cleveland MetroParks which would impact the entire county. The increase proposal would set a 2.7 mill replacement tax over 10 years. The money would reportedly go toward conversing park resources while repairing, maintaining, and improving facilities. The election will take place on Nov. 8. (Cleveland.com)
  2. The most recent environmental study of the proposed site of the new Cuyahoga County jail indicates that the area is toxic. Despite the soil, groundwater, and air currently measuring at toxic levels, the county assures the community that the site is still useable. Partners Environmental Consulting has outlined a clean-up and prevention report to remedy the area. The jail would need to use air filters and ban the use of the property's groundwater. (Cleveland.com)
  3. If you have old paints, cleaners, herbicides, and other hazardous household waste lying around, don't miss Strongsville's second and final collection of the year. On Aug. 30 and 31, the City will be accepting household products from 7:30 a.m. to 2:30 p.m. at the Service Center on 16099 Foltz Parkway. Latex paint, rechargeable batteries, and fluorescent bulbs are not accepted at this event. Visit the city's website for a full list of accepted waste items. (City of Strongsville)
