Animal Feeding, Emergency Services Contract Before Council Tonight

Twinsburg City Council meets Tuesday at 7 p.m.

Twinsburg City Council will vote Tuesday on whether or not feeding wild animals should be prohibited.

The ordinance is on its final reading after At-Large Councilman presented legislation to council nearly a month ago. Furey initially proposed the issue because of a problem with geese, especially in places with lakes and ponds such as Ethan's Green. The areas around the ponds are littered with feces from the birds, which are attracted by people who feed them.

β€œThe geese problem has become unhealthy for residents in those areas,” Furey said on March 14, adding that one resident had her β€œentire driveway covered” with geese feces.

This would also prohibit feeding feral cats, which has also become an issue for residents.

Council will likely pass over a resolution for a new agreement between the city and Reminderville for dispatch services. Two weeks ago it was tabled for a future meeting and Council Clerk Shannon Collins said there probably won't be any discussion on the issue tonight either.

Previously city council discussed entering into a new contract with the village for sharing the police and fire emergency dispatch center. The two communities have shared the service since 2008 and the most recent contract of $32,500 per year expired in December 2011.
