Former Chrysler Site Nabs $2.2 Million Grant for Improvements

The Jobs Ready Site Grant will help make infrastructure improvements to the former stamping plant property

The news keeps getting better for the former Chrysler stamping plant in Twinsburg.

The city learned Tuesday that it was awarded a $2.2 million Jobs Ready Site grant from the Ohio Department of Development to improve infrastructure on the site, said Larry Finch, director of community planning and development.

The grant will help fund several projects on the site such as replacing the rail service, maintaining roadways, extending waterlines and cleaning up the site for the Vistar Foods facility.

"These improvements will make the site more habitable for businesses to move into,” Finch said.

These infrastructure improvements will cost developers -- Scannell Properties-- $12 million in addition to the grant.

As a caveat to the grant, developers must set aside 80 acres of property so that an industry approved by the state could move in.

Finch said design and construction will begin after July and should be completed in two years.
