Twinsburg voters should know that Issue 64 will be a valid issue today, according to the city's law director.

David Maistros said Monday evening that because it is a zoning amendment, Issue 64 did meet the established laws on proper notification when it went through planning commission earlier this year.

What: Issue 64: Banning outdoor wood-burning furnaces in Twinsburg.

Election Day: Nov. 8

Ballot Language: PROPOSED ZONING AMENDMENT CITY OF TWINSBURG
A majority affirmative vote is necessary for passage. Shall ordinance 23-2011 amending section 1155.01 (R), prohibiting the use of outdoor furnaces, be
adopted?

Argument For:  Larry Finch, the director of planning and community development, said outdoor wood furnaces are specifically meant to burn wood, but it’s hard to stop people from burning other, less-friendly fuels, causing smoke issues in neighborhoods and possible air pollution.

Argument Against: There haven't been any public arguments against this issue and Finch said there is only one outdoor furnace he is aware of.
