Twinsburg High Senior Nominated to West Point Academy

Sen. Sherrod Brown nominated Tim Nosco to the U.S. military academy among 40 Ohio high school seniors

Tim Nosco, a senior at , was nominated to West Point Academy by Sen. Sherrod Brown on Wednesday, Jan. 4, according to a press release from the senator's office.

Brown nominated 40 Ohio high school seniors to attend U.S. Military Service Academies.

β€œOhio schools are training leaders for the next generation of military personnel. I am honored to nominate these outstanding students for our prestigious U.S. Military Service Academies,” said Brown in the press release.Β  β€œThese Ohioans embody the integrity and courage needed to represent well and uphold the values of our nation. I am grateful for their dedication to serving our country.”

Each year, Brown nominates up to ten students for each service academy requiring congressional recommendations. These include the Air Force Academy, the Naval Academy, the Military Academy at West Point, and the Merchant Marine Academy.

Brown uses a committee of former academy members and others to select the nominations through "rigorous interviews before selecting the final candidates."

A nomination does not guarantee acceptance into a service academy. The Academy’s Admissions Board ultimately decides who receives an appointment.
