Twinsburg Residents Share Incredible Stories From Sept. 11
Peter DeSouza lived and worked in New York on Sept. 11, 2001 and experienced the tragedy firsthand.

Twinsburg Patch asked readers to share what they were doing on Sept. 11, 2001 when the face of America was changed forever.
Two people shared some amazing stories from that day, including one person who was in New York when it happened.
Peter DeSouza
He lived in Brooklyn in 2001 and would pass through the World Trade Center during his daily commute, around 9 a.m. That day, he took a different route, he wrote.
"On that day, I was speaking at a conference so I took a different path to work. I was in the 'N' train when a lady who was listening to the radio announced that a plane had hit the WTC. A short while later she announced that another plane had hit the second tower and we knew instantly that this was no accident."

Chief Chris Noga
Noga was a patrol officer with a day off on Sept. 11, only he decided to go to work to celebrate the opening of a new Peace Officers Training Academy. He heard reports of the first plane hitting the towers, but reports were still "sketchy."
"I remember trying to call my wife who worked in Key Tower when we heard a news report that a possible hijacked plane was circling Cleveland (later identified as Flight 93 which crashed in Shanksville) and not being able to get through because cellular service was overloaded. I was panicked until I was able to reach her by phone a few hours later (she has her own story about evacuating Key Tower that day)."
