City Of Westlake : Community Services Hosts Annual Chili Cook-Off

The Westlake Community Services Department hosted the return of its Annual Chili Cook-Off on Tuesday, Oct. 12, in the Gathering Hall of the departmentโ€™s spacious new facility.

A panel of five judges awarded trophies to the top 3 entries out of eight. Those in attendance voted for one entry to receive the โ€œPeopleโ€™s Choice Award.โ€

This yearโ€™s entrants were Bankerโ€™s Life, Brookdale Gardens, Foundations Health Solutions, Our House, St. Mary of the Woods, Senior Care Authority, Symphony at Olmsted Falls and the Westlake Fire Department.

The judgesโ€™ panel was comprised of Mayor Dennis M. Clough, Ward 1 Councilperson Linda Appel, Economic Development Director Michelle Boczek, Recreation Director Paula Horner and Community Services Director Lydia Gadd.

The judges awarded 1st Place to Symphony at Olmsted Falls, 2nd Place to Bankerโ€™s Life, and 3rd Place to St. Mary of the Woods. The Peopleโ€™s Choice Award went to Bankerโ€™s Life, giving the company two trophies for its smoky and flavorful chili offering.

Several attendees won door prizes provided by each of the entrants, as well as The Normandy, ABC of Greater Cleveland, Amy Margiotti of Howard and Hanna, and Home Instead (which also provided refreshments). Westbrook Place provided desserts.
