Gas Prices Soar Ahead of Hurricane Isaac

Tropical Storm Isaac became a hurricane on Tuesday afternoon.

And it's not just Isaac's winds that increased. Gas prices around the country, including Westlake, shot up on Tuesday.

Monday afternoon, were around $3.59 a gallon. Tuesday afternoon, they had jumped at least 30 cents a gallon and in some cases 35 cents.

The higher prices could hold until the Labor Day weekend, which AAA predicts will see 33 million Americans -- a 2.9 percent increase over 2011 -- traveling 50 miles or more.
