Got Drugs? Westlake Police Department is Collecting Them

Got old prescription drugs lying around?

Turn ‘em in.

The police department is hosting Operation Medicine Cabinet in an effort to collect unused or expired prescription drugs.

The event is slated to take place at Westlake Police Department from 9 a.m. to 2 p.m. April 27.

The same program will run in Brecksville then as well.

“It’s a way to clean out your medicine cabinet and turn this stuff in,” said Sgt. William Atsberger. “This way, nobody has access to them that shouldn’t have access.”

To ensure your privacy, remove or black-out your prescription labels. Do not bring any hazardous materials or needles for disposal.

According to a news release, the program “protects our children, our water and our food supplies and decreases prescription drug abuse by making it easier for you to properly dispose of unused or expired medication.”
