LaPorte to receive Distinguished Trustee Award April 16
LaPorte honored for long-time commitment to Porter library.
Westlake Porter Public Library will honor Westlake resident Dale LaPorte with the Thomas A. Fox Distinguished Trustee Award on Tuesday, April 16 at 7 p.m.
The award is given to a past trustee in recognition of their long-term commitment to the development of library policies and service, community, statewide and/or regional library advocacy, and service as a liaison between the library and the community.
LaPorte was a member of the Library’s Board of Trustees from 1979-95, helping oversee the construction of the first library building on the current site. He also

represented WPPL with then-Board President Tom Fox in negotiations determining the division of Cuyahoga County’s portion of state funds for libraries.
In addition, LaPorte helped start the Westlake Porter Public Library Foundation and served on its board until 2012.
