LaPorte to receive Distinguished Trustee Award April 16

LaPorte honored for long-time commitment to Porter library.

Westlake Porter Public Library will honor Westlake resident Dale LaPorte with the Thomas A. Fox Distinguished Trustee Award on Tuesday, April 16 at 7 p.m.

The award is given to a past trustee in recognition of their long-term commitment to the development of library policies and service, community, statewide and/or regional library advocacy, and service as a liaison between the library and the community.

LaPorte was a member of the Libraryโ€™s Board of Trustees from 1979-95, helping oversee the construction of the first library building on the current site. He also

represented WPPL with then-Board President Tom Fox in negotiations determining the division of Cuyahoga Countyโ€™s portion of state funds for libraries.

In addition, LaPorte helped start the Westlake Porter Public Library Foundation and served on its board until 2012.
