Lee Burneson Middle School Students Land Top Honors at LEGO Olympiad
Teams win 1st-, 2nd-place trophies

Westlake middle school students had a strong showing at the Lorain Community College Lego Olympiad last month.
Lee Burneson Middle School sent teams to the competition, during which students build robots and machines from LEGOs, April 12.
Peter Slater and Chris Slater won 1st place for their Operational Draw Bot, andย Sneha Ramachandran and Jackson Liang won 2nd place in the Open Division for their LEGO motor-operated clock.
The eighth grade team was also selected to be interviewed on the college's TV station and website.
The teams are coached by teacher Judy McMasters.
Other Lee Burnesonย participants included:
- Sean Freeman, Davidย Wanhainen and Zach Wise, who built an underwater vehicle for the Themeย Division;ย
- Ryan Karpuszka and Erik Hoke, whoย built a robot for the Computer Controlledย Division;ย
- Greg Phillips and Ben Sposet, whoย entered the Open Division with a car washย controlled by Lego motors;ย
- Bradley Katcher and Mark Sargent, whoย created aย Lego version of a vending machine.
