Physical education teacher Terry Dindia, who organizes Field Day, said she usually chooses the games each year, but did something different for Tuesday. She got together the eighth-grade team captains, gave them a list of 100 games, and let them talk it over and choose the games.
In addition to the games, students ate lunch together with their teams. After lunch, there was a tug-of-war competition and the awards ceremony.

What makes Field Day special, said first-grade teacher Debbie Chinchar, is how it brings the entire student body together.
"Teams are made up of students from all the grades K through eighth," she said. "The older students help the younger students. The younger students learn from the older students. It's a great spirit building event."
First-year principal John Stipek was enjoying his first field day.
"It's good to see the excitement," he said. "We're building a family."
