Dog Boarding Facility Burglarized; Dogs Let Loose

Kalua is still missing following a dog kennel burglary in Salem early Wednesday. Two other dogs have reportedly been found.

SALEM, OR — A burglary at a canine boarding facility early Wednesday resulted in the escape of nearly a dozen of the furry guests, leaving Salem police to ask the obvious question: Who let the dogs out?

The burglary occurred around 2:30 a.m. March 28 at The Dog Bark, 1290 Hoyt St. SE in Salem, where police reportedly found a shattered window and an open door, through which nearly a dozen of the 26 dogs staying at the facility escaped into the surrounding neighborhood.

All but one of the dogs had been rounded up as of this writing, with police thanking passersby for helping collect the facility's escapees.
