Hood to Coast 2016: Organizers Change Route to Avoid Springwater Corridor

Change comes in response to safety concerns.

Organizers of the Hood to Coast Relay - scheduled to begin in just three weeks - have change the route so runners will avoid the Springwater Corridor. The change comes in response to safety concerns.

The eleventh leg had been planned as a 4.51 mile stretch that would have taken runners through the corridor from SE 122nd Avenue to SE 82nd Avenue. That area has had an increasing crime problem associated with a growing homeless camp.

A sweep and cleanup of the area that had been scheduled for August 1st has been postponed until September 1st.
