Landslide Closes I-84, ODOT Warns Conditions 'Still Unsettled'
Days of rain have caused multiple landslides closing roads

GRESHAM, OR — If you're planning on traveling through the Gorge on Thursday – and maybe early Friday – you might want to make other plans, A landslide Thursday morning closed I-84 from Troutdale to Hood River.
The Oregon Department of Transportation warned that road conditions in the area are "still unsettled.
"Debris slides after periods of heavy rain are nothing new in Oregon and that's happened in the Columbia River Gorge. Oregon has been like that this week with lots of everything everywhere all the time. Even for Oregon it feels like it won’t stop."

Officials from ODOT and forecasters from the National Weather Service's Portland office say it's not over yet. The upper elevations should expect more snow and more rain will arrive for the lowlands.
Earlier Thursday, Highway 30 was closed for several hours between Vista House and Larch Mountain because of a different debris slide.

ODOT says that drivers who need to head out should be prepared for weather delays because there will be high water, high rivers, landslides, and downed trees.
" Consider packing a bag with supplies like water, food, a charged phone, and other necessities that might be needed in a lengthy closure," officials say.
