Washington County Democratic Chairman Joins Hillsboro School Board
Patrick Maguire was chosen out of four candidates and appointed to fill a vacancy on the board on June 21.

HILLSBORO, OR — The Hillsboro School Board selected Patrick Maguire to fill the seat vacated by Yadira Martinez at a special meeting on June 21. After the 4-1 vote picking him, Maguire was then sworn in by board chairman Mark Watson in time for the board's regular meeting later that day.
"I know from my life the essential, fundamental value of our public education system, and I'm willing to volunteer my time as a board member for that reason," Maguire said after the meeting.
Maguire also had kind words for Martinez, praising her efforts to establish a newly opened center that provides resources to help turn high school students into college-bound high school students.
