Oregon Parks Commission To Meet In Lake Oswego

The commission's late February meeting, its first of 2018, will include bikeway, grant, and draft master plan approvals.

LAKE OSWEGO, OR — Oregon State Parks and Recreation commissioners will gather in Lake Oswego this month to conduct the commission's first meeting of 2018, which will include a tour of the area and a work session in Oregon City.

The public meeting will be held at 9:30 a.m. Feb. 22 at the Crowne Plaza Hotel, 14811 Kruse Oaks Dr. in Lake Oswego. The work session will occur the afternoon prior, Feb. 21, at Ainsworth House & Garden, 19130 Lot Whitcomb Dr. in Oregon City.

During the public meeting Feb. 22, the seven governor-appointed commissioners will:

  • Approve designation of the Crooked River Canyon Scenic Bikeway;
  • Approve $325,530 in County Opportunity Grants for campground projects (The grant program is funded by a portion of RV registration fees and helps counties improve or build new campgrounds); and
  • Approve a draft master plan for central coast state parks — including South Beach and Beverly Beach — that will guide recreation and resource management for the next 20 years.

Public testimony will be accepted. Anyone wishing to testify must provide 15 copies of their statement to Commission Assistant Denise Warburton via email at denise.warburton@oregon.gov.
