WELCHES, OR β€” A 10-year-old girl in Welches fought off a suspected kidnapper last Friday, and now Clackamas County Sheriff's officials hope the community can help catch the man responsible.

Clackamas County deputies were reportedly called to the intersection of East Fairway Avenue and East Welches Road around 4:30 p.m. June 22 after receiving a report that an unknown man tried to grab a little girl while she was riding her bike. The little girl was able to fight off the man with kicks and punches, after which he fled in an older, dark-colored SUV, police said.

A search of the area did not turn up anyone matching the suspect's description.

The attempted kidnapper is described as a young man of Hispanic or Native American descent. He is about 6 feet tall with a slender build and long, dark hair braided into a ponytail. When he allegedly tried to grab the girl, the man was wearing a long-sleeved shirt and a beanie.

The SUV may have also been a truck with a matching canopy, police said. Numerous stickers covered the back window and included the word "REVENGE" written in large white letters about midway down from the top, police said.
