Brother Disrupts Fight, Stabs Sister's Boyfriend In Neck

CLACKAMAS, OR — A young woman's 20-year-old brother is being held for attempted murder in Clackamas County for stabbing his sister's boyfriend in the neck early Sunday.

Jacob Michael Temple is being held at the Clackamas County Jail. He is charged with attempted murder, unlawful use of a weapon, and assault. His bail is set at $250,000.

According to Clackamas County Sheriff's spokesman Sgt. Brian Jensen, county deputies were dispatched to the reported stabbing at the Crown Court Apartments on Southeast 97th Avenue just after 3:30 a.m. March 4.

The victim, 24-year-old Jordan Vaselaney, was found laying on his side "with a severe wound to the neck… close to his ear," Jensen said.

Vaselaney received first aid while Temple was arrested without incident, Jensen continued, noting first responders took Vaselaney to Oregon Health & Science University where he is still being treated.

The sheriff's investigation revealed Temple had stepped into the middle of an argument between Vaselaney and Temple's 24-year-old sister, Arianna Temple, when the stabbing occurred, Jensen said.

Temple was scheduled for a Feb. 16 hearing in a Marion County court for misdemeanor assault charges he received in September 2017, but he failed to appear. His next scheduled court date for that charge is March 29.

At this time, it's unclear how Clackamas and Marion counties will proceed with their respective investigations.
