CCC Fall Fair And Expo Will 'Tackle Hunger'
As part of its Community Fair and Expo, Clackamas Community College will accept non-perishable food item donations to restock its pantry.

OREGON CITY, OR β Clackamas Community College will use its fall Community Fair and Expo as an opportunity to replenish the school's food pantry while also hosting a variety of vendors and musical performances later this month at the college's Oregon City campus. Another fair will be held at the college's Harmony campus in October.
Typically hosting two annual community fairs/expos, one in the spring and one in the fall, Clackamas Community College officials give each one a theme; the theme for this fall's fair is "Tackling Hunger," according to CCC Student Life and Leadership Assistant Cynthia Boettcher.
"One of the main reasons why we chose Tackling Hunger is due to the upcoming start of a new academic year here at Clackamas Community College, and the high percentage of students who have food insecurity (not having enough food)," she wrote Patch in an email. "Hunger and poverty among college students can pose a significant barrier to student success. We rely solely on generous donations from our community members, faculty, staff and other students, and since our available food supply is at an extreme minimal, we are need of donations at this time.

"Addressing food insecurity on campus serves both a human service and educational need," Boettcher added.

CCC officials will accept all non-perishable food items to restock the college's pantry, she said, noting the specific need for canned meats, peanut butter, protein bars, and canned fruit.
"We accept non-perishable food donations all year round, and anyone can donate. If an individual/company or organization wanted to help in other ways, we accept monetary donations and use it to buy items that are in high demand," Boettcher explained. "We also love to have volunteers help out. One way to do this is for a company or organization to come in and help with the date checking, stocking and front counter help."
The Oregon City campus Community Fair and Expo will be held Wednesday, Sept. 26, from 11:30 a.m. to 1 p.m. at 19600 Molalla Ave.
Another fair and expo will be held on the Harmony Community campus, located at 7738 S.E. Harmony Rd. in Milwaukie, Wednesday, Oct. 3, from 11 a.m. to 1 p.m.
