Clackamas County Hoops Star Commits To The Ducks
West Linn's Jackson Shelstad, the state's No. 1-rated junior, announced Sunday that he had chosen Oregon over UCLA and Gonzaga.

WEST LINN, OR —West Linn High basketball star Jackson Shelstad, who is a junior, announced Sunday that he will play college basketball at University of Oregon. As of now, he would be a college freshman during the 2023-24 season.
The 6-foot-1, 170-pound, four-star guard made the announcement on Twitter, writing: "I'm staying home."

"I chose Oregon because of the relationship I've built with coach (Dan) Altman and the coaching staff over the last couple of years," Shelstad told On3Sports. "I know how much they believe in me and how hard they will push me, which is something that I really love about them. I've been watching Oregon since I was a little kid and now that I have the opportunity to play for the Ducks… it's a dream come true."
Shelstad is rated as the 68th best player, and 12th best point guard, in the country in the class of 2023, according to 247Sports. He is considered the No. 1 rated junior in the state of Oregon.

On3Sports reports that Shelstad is close to former Oregon standout and current Boston Celtics guard Payton Pritchard, who also attended West Linn High. Shelstad described Pritchard as like an older brother, according to On3Sports.
Tracy Pierson of 247Sports reported earlier this month that in addition to his final three college choices, Shelstad also had offers from Oregon State, Kansas, USC, Arizona State, Florida, Stanford and Texas Tech, among others.
"Shelstad might be a bit on the smallish side, but the four-star prospect is a true point guard, with an advanced passing ability and feel for the game, while also being a highly-skilled scorer," Pierson wrote.
Shelstad is the first player to commit to Oregon's 2023 class. On Friday, the Ducks officially signed three players in the 2022 class: Five-star point guard Dior Johnson, five-star center Kel'el Ware and junior college player Tyrone Williams.
