Clackamas County Sheriff Busts 'Ricky Bobby' In Stolen Truck

OREGON CITY — Deputies are pretty sure that Alexis Ibarra Gomez is not Ricky Bobby, the "star" of Talladega Nights. Yet Gomez was wearing his racing suit when they arrested him.

Deputies say that it started Tuesday night when 911 got a call saying there was a black GMC pickup weaving across the road and running stop signs. The caller tried to follow the pickup but pulled away when the truck stopped and deputies say that Gomez pointed a gun and fired three times at the witness.

The witness then fired back with a rifle that he had. No one was injured.

Deputies found Gomez and gave chase.

When he approached Oregon City, police there joined in.

Gomez didn't stop and ended up crashing into a detached garage. e then fled.

Deputies say that Gomez had broken into a home where he changed into a replica Ricky Bobby racing suit.

Seeing the house surrounded, Gomez turned himself in.

He is charged with several counts of theft.
