Men Missing Found Dead In Submerged SUV After 3-Day Search

A GoFundMe fundraiser is underway to help pay for the burials of Kevin Shaver and Chase Villarreal who were found dead after a 3-day search.

OREGON CITY, OR – The Clackamas County Sheriff's Office says that they have recovered the bodies of two men who had missing for 3-days. Chase Villarreal and Kevin Shaver were found in their SUV submerged in the Collawash River.

The men had gone on a trip east of Estacada and when they failed to return on Thursday, a report was filed at the Ripplebrook Ranger Station, which then notified the sheriff's office.

The SUV – a red Chevy Tahoe – was found in the river on Friday night.

On Saturday morning, deputies were able to pull the Tahoe from the river. Shaver and Villarreal were dead inside.

When the Tahoe was located in he river, deputies also found Chase's dog, Xena, alive and sitting by the bank of the river.

Friends of the two have established a page on GoFundMe to help pay for the funerals of both men.

As of Sunday night, nearly 100 people had donated almost $4,000 to help.

Officials say that they believe that speed may have been a factor in the Tahoe leaving the roadway.
