Shooting Reported At Gladstone Safeway Thursday Night: Police

One person was injured in an altercation that involved gunfire at the Gladstone Safeway just before 10 p.m. Thursday. No suspects arrested.

GLADSTONE, OR β€” One person was injured in an altercation that involved gunfire at the Gladstone Safeway Thursday night, according to Gladstone police. One suspect remains on the loose.

Gladstone officers were dispatched just before 10 p.m. July 5 to a report of gunfire at the Safeway located at 95 82nd Dr. One victim was at the scene; the suspect had already fled.

Investigators reportedly learned there was some kind of altercation and shots were fired. The victim sustained a small, non-life-threatening wound to the face β€” but police could not confirm whether the victim was shot or injured during an assault. Either way, the victim was taken to Oregon Health & Science University for medical care.

The suspect is described as a Latino man, skinny, with short hair. Police noted a late 1980s or early 1990s model vehicle leaving the area, but were unsure whether it was related to the incident. The vehicle may have been a green or greenish-blue Ford Taurus, police said.

Police searched the area for the suspect but did not find anyone matching that description. Officers did find a gun near the scene, however.
