Woman Injured When Truck Plows Into Eye Clinic

The driver of a van reportedly backed into the unoccupied truck, forcing into the front entrance of a clinic in Happy Valley Wednesday.

HAPPY VALLEY, OR — A woman was leaving the Kaiser Permanente eye clinic in Happy Valley Wednesday afternoon when a truck pushed her back into the building, smashed through the clinic's front window, and pinned her inside.

The truck, which was reportedly unoccupied, had been shoved from the rear by a van that was attempting to exit the clinic's parking lot.

Clackamas Fire District #1 firefighters were dispatched to the Vision Essentials by Kaiser Permanente Clackamas eye clinic at 12100 S.E. Stevens Ct. around 5:45 p.m. June 13.

According to Clackamas Fire officials, the driver of the van mistook the gas for the brake pedal while reversing. The van driver was uninjured.

The woman who was leaving the clinic required an ambulance trip to Oregon Health & Science University.

The van driver was not cited for causing the incident, KOIN News reported, however she will be required to retake her driver's test at the Department of Motor Vehicles, as per the Clackamas County Sheriff's Office.
