  1. The Shepherd’s Center of Greater Winston-Salem will hold its 36th annual used book sale this weekend in the Education Building at the Winston-Salem Fairgrounds. The sale will run from 9:00 a.m. to 9:00 p.m. Thursday-Friday, and from 8:00 a.m. to 2:00 p.m. on Saturday. Proceeds of the sale benefit the ministry's programs and services for older adults in the Salem area. (Subscription: Winston-Salem Journal)
  2. A new art gallery is opening in West Salem, promising to bring more opportunities for community building to the area. The Corner Art Gallery, Boutique, and Creative Community Space were designed to give creatives from historically marginalized communities a supportive space to showcase their work and connect with others.   3. Five individuals were arrested Sunday by Salem City Police on charges of blackmailing and sexually assaulting a teenage girl. Officials say 23-year-old K. Vinith enticed the victim by convincing her to elope with him on Apr. 25. Police say the accused individuals were sent for a medical test and would be remanded in custody. (The Hindu)
