Councilors voted 5-4 to implement the tax, making the average person pay around $500 in yearly taxes. The additional money would be used towards police officers and firefighters and to keep the homeless shelters open. (Oregon Live)
  2. On Saturday, after the Sisters Outdoor Quilt Show, three veterans were honored with Quilts of Valor made by Salem Star Valor Quilters of Oregon.
