- A crash on Wednesday night in nearby Portland left two people dead and two people injured. The incident occurred in the Lents neighborhood near the intersection of Southeast Foster Road and Southeast 96th Avenue. Two vehicles rolled over in the crash, and the Major Crash Team is investigating. Anyone with information is asked to please contact crimetips@police.portlandoregon.gov. (KPTV)
- A new mural in west Salem is now on display following months of planning and fundraising. Artists Kristin Kuhns and Stephanie Juanillo led the design and installation of the mural that now adorns the pavement at the intersection of Northwest 2nd Street and Northwest Kingwood Avenue. Dozens of neighbors came together to create the brightly colored scene with local plants and animals, including salmon, Nootka roses, and swallowtail butterflies. This is the fourth installment in a series of seven murals planned for the city. (Salem Reporter)
- The City of Salem has announced upcoming road closures. Beginning on Jul. 11, drivers can expect detours along Battle Creek Road SE, Landau Street SE, and Reed Road SE. The closures are expected to last for three days while crews install utilities along the highway. (City of Salem via Facebook)
