- Legislation addressing the opioid crisis, health care workforce, hospital staffing, and drug decriminalization in Oregon is at risk due to a Republican walkout that has halted legislative work. Senate Republicans and Independents are denying the chamber a quorum until the session's last day on Jun. 25, jeopardizing the passage of hundreds of bills, including the two-year budget. Democratic lawmakers argue that the Republican proposal is unworkable and will leave crucial legislation unresolved, potentially impacting healthcare access and patient well-being.
