  1. On Tuesday night, May 30, Salem Police arrested a 14-year-old boy in connection to a threat that was made against Adam Stephens Middle School in Salem. According to police, the graphic threat was posted on Instagram on Tuesday and would have taken place on Wednesday. The teen was charged with first-degree disorderly conduct and spent the night at the Marion County Juvenile Department. Police have not released the teen's name because he is a minor. (KOIN)
  2. Salem Police arrested 42-year-old Eloy Arthur Tello on Tuesday, May 30, for allegedly stealing a delivery truck and running over a 67-year-old man in Salem. According to investigators, Tello and the delivery truck driver had a physical struggle at the McDonald’s, located at 1000 NE Lancaster Drive. Tello then ran over 67-year-old Gary Adams while fleeing in the stolen truck and later crashed while trying to elude police on I-5. (KOIN)
  3. On Wednesday, May 31, the Senate Republican walkout entered "its fifth week and is already the longest in Oregon history,” Democratic Gov. Tina Kotek said in a statement. Kotek confirmed that her talks with Sen. Tim Knopp, leader of the minority Senate Republicans, to end the impasse have failed. According to Kotek, Knopp wants the abortion and gender-affirming care bill “substantially amended or dead.” (KPTV)

  • Salem's splash fountains have opened early this season to try to beat the heat! The splash fountains are now open at Riverfront Park, River Road Park, Englewood Park, Fairmount Park, Northgate Park, Wes Bennett Park, and West Salem Park. (Statesman Journal)
  • On Wednesday, May 31, Salem Police arrested four men for allegedly robbing a Chevron gas station in Salem. The men were allegedly helped by gas station employee Gabriel Ray Firkins, who allegedly gave them information. (KOIN)
  • On Jun. 1, the City of Salem's Floating Boat Docks returned to Wallace Marine Park! Locals will now have easy access to the Willamette River in canoes, kayaks, motorized boats, and jet skis. (City of Salem via Facebook)
