"Members of our community have expressed concerns about shopping carts being abandoned in public spaces," an Oregon City Police spokesman said.

Oregon City is not alone. Gresham, Hillsboro, Portland, Lake Oswego, and Beaverton all have the problem. The Wilsonville-based Northwest Grocery Association has an answer.

Their Cart Retrieval Service is up and running, ready to come and get a cart from where it doesn't belong.

The service has a hotline that is staffed 24/7. Just call 888-55-CARTS (888-552-2787). After a complaint is lodged, reported carts will be picked up in 72 hours
