ABINGTON TOWNSHIP, PA — Democrats held the lead in Tuesday's general election for the Abington School Board.

Abington school board candidates debated the impact that a new middle school would have. In the May primary election, voters approved building a new $285 million middle school by a narrow 500-vote margin among 17,000 residents who went to the polls.

As of 11:30 p.m., nearly 50 percent of the precincts had reported their voter tallies.

Abington School Board

Seven candidates are seeking four, four-year terms:

  • Brian Allen (Democrat/Republican) — 8,371 votes
  • Roy Bant Jr. (Republican) — 3,151 votes
  • Adrienne Fletcher (Democrat) — 10,074 votes
  • Angelique Frazier (Democrat) — 9,560 votes
  • Yaasiyn Muhammad (Democrat) — 9,206 votes
  • Joseph O'Brien (Republican) — 3,382 votes
  • Joseph J Rooney (Republican) — 3,536 votes

Results are unofficial until they are certified at a later date.
