Abington Speedsters Take State Title In 4x400 Relay

The relay team of have gone from Penn Relays champs, to District I champs, to Pennsylvania state champs with their blistering times.

ABINGTON, PA — Abington's 2023 track and field roster has four state champions in their ranks.

The 4x400 meter relay team of Jamir McClinton, Luke Coleman, Keith Axten, Tyler Abraham took home the state title at the PIAA Track and Field Championships over the holiday weekend.

The foursome finished first overall with a time of 3:16.59, more than three whole seconds faster than the runners-up from Spring Ford, who finished in 3:19.71.

While the relay team's time was more than enough to earn them the state title, it's still not their fastest.

McClinton, Coleman, Axten, and Abraham clocked 3:14.62 at the PIAA District I championships earlier this month, earning the District I title.

The same team ran a 3:18.44 in the Suburban National High School Boys 4x400 relay at the Penn Relays, and also ran a 3:19.45 to win the overall relay race at Penn Relays.
