Blight Fight Pushed In Cheltenham Township
Cheltenham Township plans a community cleanup next month.

CHELTENHAM TOWNSHIP, PA — Cheltenham Township officials want to clean up the community.
The township has scheduled a community cleanup to fight blight from 10 a.m. to Noon on Oct. 4, with a rain date set for Oct. 5.
Officials are urging residents to sign up for the cleanup, and will provide trash bags to organized groups who recruit family, neighbors, teammates, park groups, pickleball partners, book club members, or friends to help cover as much of the township as possible.

Township officials said residents can clean their blocks, business districts, or parks.
"Clean streets send a message that we take pride in our community," officials said.

Officials said cleanups can consist of picking up litter, sweeping sidewalks, pulling weeds (discard separately in debris collections), or "other safe and simple upkeep."
Recyclables should be separated for single-stream recycling.
The township will provide trash bags for litter that will be picked up by public works the following Monday.
The township has a limited quantity of gloves and grabbers available through partners at the Tookany/Tacony-Frankford Watershed Partnership to provide to block and park leaders. Staff will use the contact emails provided in the form to coordinate pick-up/drop-off of such materials.
Township staff will not be present at all cleanup locations. Volunteers will work independently or in small groups, and are encouraged to take photos and post to social media or send to the township.
By signing up, participants acknowledge that their involvement is voluntary and agree to hold the township harmless for any injuries that may occur during the event.
