Dean Endorses Challenger To Longtime GOP Incumbent

EASTERN MONTGOMERY COUNTY, PA — A challenger to U.S. Congressman Brian Fitzpatrick has received an endorsement from a leading Montgomery County lawmaker.

Congresswoman Madeleine Dean became the first member of Congress from Pennsylvania to officially back Bob Harvie’s campaign to flip Pennsylvania’s 1st Congressional District from Republicans to Democrats.

"Bob Harvie has a proven record of bipartisan results as Bucks County Commissioner and will fight for working families," Dean said. "Bob cares, listens, and gets things done. That’s the kind of leadership we need in Washington — it’s time for change. I know Bob Harvie will work every day to deliver for the constituents of the 1st Congressional District, for hard-working Pennsylvanians, and all American families.”

Dean, who represents Pennsylvania’s 4th District, is a respected leader known for expanding access to health care, championing gun violence prevention, and standing up for reproductive rights and the rule of law in Congress.

“I’m honored to earn Congresswoman Dean’s endorsement," Harvie said. "She has been a tireless champion for working families, protecting access to health care, and fighting for reproductive freedom. Her leadership and partnership mean so much to me, and together we’ll work to deliver real change.”

Harvie is a lifelong Bucks County resident, former public school teacher, and current Bucks County
Commissioner.

He is trying to unseat longtime incumbent Fitzpatrick, one of only two Republicans who voted against President Donald Trump's "Big Beautiful Bill."

The PA1 Congressional District represents Bucks County and parts of Montgomery County.

Harvie has received endorsements from former PA Congressman Matt Cartwright, Bucks Democratic Chair State Sen. Steve Santarsiero, Bucks County Commissioner Diane Ellis-Marseglia, Montgomery County Commissioners Neil Makihja and Jamila Winder, and all of the Democratic members of the State Senate and State House delegation that encompass PA-01, the Voter Protection Project, and many local elected officials and leaders.
