Man Who Raped Girl In Multiple Montco, Bucks Towns To Be Sentenced

NORRISTOWN, PA — A Bucks County man who admitted to raping a 12-year-old girl in multiple towns in both Montgomery and Bucks Counties will soon be sentenced for his crimes.

Edwin Perez, 22, of Warrington, Pa., will face a judge in December after he pleaded guilty to a single felony count of rape of a child in connection with a case in which investigators say he met up with an underage girl to have sex on multiple occasions in multiple communities.

The incidents occurred between March and July 2021 and took place at locations in Abington and Horsham Townships in Montgomery County, as well as Warrington in Bucks County.

At the time of the arrest, the Abington Township Police Department said it was contacted in mid-July 2021 by family members of the minor girl after they discovered inappropriate content and messages on her cellphone.

Detectives subsequently obtained evidence that showed Perez had been meeting with the girl on numerous occasions for sex.

On July 26, 2021, investigators went to a planned meetup site where Perez was expecting to have sex with the girl and they arrested Perez on the spot, police previously stated.

Court records show that Perez pleaded guilty to a single felony count of child rape this summer; a host of other felony and misdemeanor charges were dismissed in exchange for the guilty plea.

The plea was done as an open guilty plea, which means Perez's fate will be solely up to the decision of Montgomery County Common Pleas Court Judge Thomas DelRicci and not subject to any deals with prosecutors.

Records show DelRicci is scheduled to sentence Perez on Dec. 15 at 8:30 a.m.

Perez currently remains in custody at the Montgomery County Correctional Facility on $500,000 bail.

The judge has ordered Perez to undergo a sexual offender assessment, according to the criminal docket sheet in the case.
