'Traffic Safe-T' Program Starts In Abington

Abington Township has begun a month-long program to encourage drivers to slow down in the community.

ABINGTON TOWNSHIP, PA — Abington Police are conducting their "Traffic Safe-T Program" that will last until the end of the month.

The community-wide initiative involves the township's Board of Commissioners, Administration, participating citizens, and neighborhood groups.

The program runs through Sept. 30.

The program features two major components:

1. Driver Education

2. Increased Traffic Enforcement

Residents may participate by placing signs notifying motorists to slow down on their lawns through Sept. 30.

Signs may be obtained by contacting the commissioner representing a resident's ward or the Abington Township Police Department's Traffic Safety Unit at 267-536-1078.

"On behalf of the children and all of the residents of our community, we are asking you to slow down and drive carefully," township officials said.
