'Made In PA' Logo Proposed To Boost State Economy, Local Products

The 'Made in PA' bill would create a logo that would accompany Pennsylvania-made goods and services.

NEWTOWN, PA — A newly proposed piece of legislation this week aims to create a "Made in PA" logo and boost the local economy by promoting state-made goods to consumers.

The bill is a part of the PA Preferred program, which was made for Pennsylvanians so that they can find and support local agricultural businesses and buy their products.

House Bill 1930 would create a 'Made in PA' logo for manufacturing companies to place on their product so that consumers who want to support PA-based businesses will know what to buy. The bill will also create a larger 'Made in PA' program through the Department of Community and Economic Development.

"This bill would help promote these businesses that employ more than 500,000 residents in manufacturing products and provide jobs and goods right here in Pennsylvania."
The bill would, through the new program, create a publicly searchable website for people to find PA-made goods and companies throughout the state.

It was referred to the Commerce Committee of the Pennsylvania House of Representatives on Sept. 29 and is currently awaiting action.
