Snow Storm Forecast Changes For Eastern PA: See The Latest

The highly variable weather system may not be what forecasters originally believed.

The highly variable storms heading to the eastern Pennsylvania region this week do not appear likely to bring significant snowfall any longer, according to the latest updates from forecasters.

The shifting nature of the storms means that the bulk of the storm will miss the region, and temperatures will float just above freezing during that time.

"Given the storm track, it seems unlikely that several inches of snow will accumulate in cities like Philadelphia and New York City," Accuweather said. "However, it's not out of the question that flakes would fly in these cities."

The front will hit the Philly area late Tuesday night with a slight chance of some rain, with rain continuing Wednesday, as temperatures rise into the 50s, forecasters said.

Temperatures will drop Wednesday night, and that's when some light snow flurries could flourish. Accumulation is not expected, but it could still bring some impacts for residents.

"With cold infiltrating the Northeast Thursday night, it would be easy for untreated surfaces, even wet surfaces, to freeze up and bring slippery spots for the Friday morning commute," Accuweather Meteorologist Brandon Buckingham added.

The potential second storm, which forecasters originally believed had a chance to bring more snow on Sunday, does not appear likely to materialize now.

However, temperatures will continue to plummet as the week continues, dropping into the lower 20s later in the week.
