BENSALEM TOWNSHIP, PA — Four years after receiving approval from the township to build it, Amazon's facility on State Road is closing.

Amazon Spokesman Steve Kelly said Monday that operations at the facility, which opened in 2020, will conclude in August.

Kelly said the delivery station was opened to meet customer demand, but that the company has opened several new, built-to-suit facilities in the area, making the current facility obsolete.

“We’re always evaluating our network to make sure it fits our business needs and to improve the experience for our employees, customers, and partners," Kelly said. "As part of that effort, we may close older sites, enhance existing facilities, or open new sites, and we weigh a variety of factors when deciding where to develop future sites or maintain a presence."

Kelly said there will be no impact for customers. He said that all employees at the Bensalem delivery station are being offered opportunities to transfer to one of 10 other facilities nearby.

Kelly said Amazon is working with employees to accommodate transfer and scheduling preferences during the process.

He said that delivery services will be transferred from Bensalem warehouse to facilities nearby.

In September 2020, Amazon received approval from the council for a 235,240-square-foot building, which is where merchandise is stored and deliveries begin.

The company came before the Bensalem Township Council in September 2023 to request that parcels on Amazon's Winks Lane and State Road property be under one umbrella.
