BENSALEM TOWNSHIP, PA —After doubts by township officials and residents that it would ever open, the new Amazon Fresh store on Street Road now has an opening date.
The 42,000-square-foot store at 1837 Street Rd.—the third for Amazon Fresh in Pennsylvania —will open to the public on Thursday, Aug. 22.
"This new, affordable grocery store in the community will offer a wide selection of quality groceries and a convenient shopping experience," Amazon said in a press release to Patch.

The store —like others in Lower Bucks and nearby Montgomery County —was supposed to open in the space where Kmart once ruled on Street Road sometime last year.
At one point, Mayor Joseph DiGirolamo called the vacant store an "eyesore."

Amazon Fresh has stores in Warrington and another in Broomal. Stores are planned in Middletown Township and Willow Grove.
Amazon Fresh in Bensalem will be open from 8 a.m. to 10 p.m. seven days a week.
Amazon officials said it is supporting the Bensalem area community by creating jobs and will also donate surplus food from the Amazon Fresh store to the Philabundance Food Bank.
The new Amazon Fresh store in Bensalem will feature the company's latest brick-and-mortar design unveiled last year in select Chicago and Southern California stores.
Customers can expect to find a wide selection of national brands, high-quality produce, and protein, as well as Amazon’s private label brands like Aplenty, Fresh Brand, and 365 by Whole Foods Market—all at great low prices.
"Amazon already has a large online grocery business and millions of products available for fast delivery, but if you want to serve as many grocery needs as we do, you have to offer customers great selection, value, and convenience—not just online, but in physical stores too. We remain committed to grocery, and will selectively open new Amazon Fresh stores as we see positive customer feedback on the new format, as well as continue to open new Whole Foods Market stores," officials said.
Officials said what sets Amazon Fresh apart is its ability to merge the convenience of online grocery shopping with an elevated in-store experience.
Customers can take advantage of fast grocery delivery and pickup options, while also enjoying ways to make grocery shopping in-store more convenient, like the Amazon Dash Cart and Amazon One.
Amazon Fresh prides itself on selection and low prices.
