Bensalem Construction This Week: Route 1, Old Lincoln Highway
Several major construction projects are set to close roads in Bensalem and nearby towns this week. Here's where to avoid.

BENSALEM, PA - Southbound Route 1 will be limited to one lane in Bensalem this week as part of ongoing construction efforts, township officials say.
The road will be reduced to one lane between the Penndel/Business U.S. 1 and Pennsylvania Turnpike interchanges in Bensalem through Thursday, Sept. 8 for shoulder reconstruction, according to the Bensalem Township website.
The partial road closure will take place from 8 p.m. to 6 a.m. every day for shoulder reconstruction, per Pennsylvania Department of Transportation (PennDOT).

A right lane closure will also be in effect on eastbound Street Road (Route 132) between Kingston Way and Old Lincoln Highway on Sept. 8, from 9 a.m. to 3 p.m. for bridge construction, officials said.
Southbound Old Lincoln Highway also remains closed through mid-September from the ramp to southbound U.S.1 to Bristol Road in Middletown Township for reconstruction, officials added. Motorists will be detoured south on Route 1 to the Neshaminy Interchange, then right onto Rockhill Drive back to Old Lincoln Highway.

Drivers are urged to allow extra time when traveling through the work areas. All scheduled construction is weather permitting.
The closures come as part of multi-million PennDOT projects to reconstruct and widen nearly three miles of Route 1, as well as interchange improvement and bridge construction - including new structures over the Neshaminy Creek and over rail lines near the Penndel exit.
