Bensalem HS Names 'Teacher Of The Year', Finalists

The winner was chosen from the three finalists and was named at a school pep rally that took place at the end of March.

BENSALEM, PA — Bensalem High School has announced the names of the three finalists for the school's 'Teacher of the Year' 2022 award.

The three finalists were staff members Chelsea Root, Christopher Sterman, and Col. John Church.

Col. Church, the school's MCJROTC Senior Marine Instructor, was named the winner of the BHS Teacher of the Year Award for 2021-22 at a pep rally that was held at the high school on Friday, March 21.

Teachers, students, and administrators partook in the voting process for the finalists. Each of the five building administrators initially nominated two teachers.

The award was started by a group of teachers and overseen by them as well.

The committee defined the BHS Teacher of the Year as “A dedicated educator who demonstrates commitment and passion for their craft. Earning the admiration of the faculty, administration, and students, this teacher challenges and engages students and is committed to their success –demonstrating a passion and joy of teaching that inspires the school community.”

“Master Sergeant Worthen and I are blessed to be teaching some amazing young people, to have strong support from the staff, faculty and families and we enjoy being a part of the BHS family," said Col. Church. "His devotion to duty, the amazing cadets in our charge and our peers inspire me to give my best every day.”
