Bensalem Students Attend PA State Competition
Students from Bensalem High School, Robert K. Shafer Middle School, and Cecelia Snyder Middle School presented their scientific research.

BENSALEM, PA — Several students from Bensalem Township School District attended the State Competition of the Pennsylvania Junior Academy of Science at Penn State University from May 15 through May 17.
The State College event saw thousands of Pennsylvania high school and college students present their own scientific research for the chance at receiving awards. Students from Bensalem High School, Robert K. Shafer Middle School, and Cecelia Snyder Middle School participated in the event.
Sponsored by their advisor Mrs. Lisa Tokmajian, 25 students from Bensalem High School partook in the competition, with eleven of them receiving first-place awards.

First Place: Ali Ahmad, Sofia Ferrandez, Josh Mathew, Victoria Mocarski, Mohak Parmar, Ayush Patel, Gunjan Patel, Jia Patel, Meet Patel, Yashvi Patel and Phoebe Ting.
Second Place: Candice Chen, Sara Devlin, Krishiv Gandhi, Tiffany Gao, Kaitlyn Higgins, Brian Olsen, Aastha Patel, Aayushi Patel, Astha Patel, Mahi Patel, Keira Seidman, Diya Shah, Zaid Shaik, and Madison Thai.

Ali Ahmad, Sofia Ferrandez, Krishiv Gandhi, Tiffany Gao, Brian Olsen, Ayush Patel, and Mahi Patel received special recognition for their dedication to the Pennsylvania Junior Academy (PJAS) (States) for four years. Additionally, PJAS regional recognition awards were received by BHS seniors, Mohak Parmar (3 years) and Ali Ahmad (5 years).
Mahi Patel was awarded a scholarship in the amount of $2,000 per year to the Eberly Science School at Penn State University-Main Campus.
Sponsored by Mrs. Morgan Golombek, five Robert K. Shafer Middle School students participated, with Jeet Patel earning a first-place award and a perfect score.
Four students earned second-place awards: Mary Beck, Lucas Ferrandez, Sophia Seidman, and Sarah O’Neil.
Sponsored by Miss Kate Liese and Mr. Tom Hoffman, seven Cecelia Snyder Middle School students also participated in the event.
