Construction Leads To Further Lane Closures In Bensalem

BENSALEM, PA — Another lane closure will be coming to the Bensalem area as PennDOT continues expansions and repairs on U.S. 1.

U.S. 1 will be reduced to one lane in each direction between the Street Road (Route 132) and Route 413 interchanges in Bensalem and Middletown townships on Sunday, March 27, through Thursday, March 31. The closures will take place from 8:00 p.m. to 6:00 a.m.

The majority of the project will be for median reconstruction, according to PennDOT.

"Motorists are advised to allow extra time when traveling through the work area. All scheduled activities are weather dependent," representatives of Bensalem Township said in a statement.

Crews will be reconstructing and widening almost three miles of U.S. 1. The current project will be improving the interchanges and constructing several new bridges, including new structures over the Neshaminy Creek and over rail lines near the Penndel exit.
